NGOS WORKING IN SINDH PROVINCE
The NGO Resource Centre operates within the framework of the Civil Society Programme of the Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan). Based in Karachi, in the province of Sindh, Pakistan, the Centre has been in existence since 1990.
Its current mission is to enhance organizational effectiveness and improve systems that promote gender sensitive participatory approaches to sustainable social and economic development. It has a four-pronged strategic thrust to fulfill this mission:
a) training to enhance the skills of managers and leaders’ forums to promote awareness on development issues;
b) management consulting services for individual civil society organizations to facilitate their development interventions;
c) information and research to create greater understanding of the role of civil society organizations, promote quality standards and an enabling policy environment for the civil society sector; and
d) communication by disseminating information through target-oriented products to a wide-range of development stakeholders and civil society including community-based organizations, the corporate world, media, academics, public sector officials and concerned citizens.
NGORC has been supported by the following organizations and agencies; the European Commission, through the Rural Social Development Programme; the Canadian International Development Agency and the Aga Khan Foundation, Canada through the Pakistan-Canada Social Institutions Development Programme; and the Aga Khan Foundation (USA) and USAID, through the Institutional Management and Certification Programme..

CHILD WELFARE & PCCWD
INTRODUCTION
As a provincial counter part of National Commission for Child Welfare & Development (NCCWD), Provincial Commission for Child Welfare and Development (PCCWD) is functioning as a unit of Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh.
It is working in collaboration with government departments, Unicef and NGOs working for child welfare & protection.
OBJECTIVES
- Working with line departments and NGO’s in promoting child welfare activities & to establish coordination for effective functioning.
- To over see all types of child abuse cases and suggest remedial measures.
- Organize workshops, seminars & trainings for the promotion, propagation and awareness of the child rights.
- To strengthen the associations working for the welfare and development of children in the province of sindh.
